This past week, I heard that an aquaintance of mine from Fuller was supposed to be getting married in January. Unfortunately, his fiancee had been suffering from migraines and recent loss of sight. She went in for testing and found out that she had a brain tumor.
So, they cancelled the wedding in January. Instead, they'll be getting married this Saturday in the courtyard at Fuller, amongst a small group of friends. Forget the catering, the bridesmaid's dresses, the sordid details leading up to the big day. It doesn't matter in the long run.
Instead, what matters is that they're together. That she gets healthy. That they can prepare for a long life ahead of them.
A subtle reminder for myself as we plan our own wedding... Why worry about the details? I get the spend the rest of my life with my best friend. And that's that really matters. :)
